Regulating. - In turbines having a number of inlet passages controlled by a number of valves arranged loosely on a common stem and adapted to be operated in succession by the speed governor, the valves are so arranged that the motive fluid flows through them in series, only one valve being subjected to the initial pressure under any condition of working. This arrangement is shown in Fig. 1, the valves 12 being lifted in succession by members 15 secured to the stem 13 and operating in conjunction with the bushings 4, ported cylinders 8 and diaphragms 9. To facilitate assembling, the bushings 4 and cylinders 8 are made of progressively decreasing diameter from one end of the tier to the other. Specification 9888/05 is referred to,
