Alloys.-An iron alloy for use in making dynamos is made from iron having not more than 0À5 per cent of impurities, and contains also aluminium, from 1À3 to 2 per cent, and silicon from 0À8 to 1À2 per cent, these two elements not exceeding 3 per cent together. In modifications, silicon is replaced by boron, and aluminium by beryllium or calcium.
