[Addition to 11,091/13.] Aluminium and other nitrides. - In the production of aluminium and other nitrides according to the parent Specification, a part or the whole of the excess carbon employed to maintain the heating-current is substituted by other good electric conductors, for example metals. It is advantageous to select such of these substances as actify the formation of nitride. The use of iron or certain of its alloys presents the advantage that they are readily separated from the nitride by magnetic methods. Further, as iron oxide is present in certain ores of aluminium, it is convenient to employ these and add an amount of iron sufficient to make up the desired quantity.
