Seal fastenings; yrips, sliding-wedge and roller type. - A self-locking device b for sealing bags of postal matter, or the doors of railway wagons, is provided with a hole b<1> to receive the end of a wire - strengthened cord or cable a, and with a longitudinal conduit b<2> in which the cord may slide. The cord is automatically locked in position by a spring-pressed ball d or wedge located in a passage c, the end of which is permanently closed by a plug b<0>. The whole arrangement forms a running noose which can only be unfastened by cutting the cord.
