Abstract
725. Meylan, J. E. Jan. 9. Ball bearings.-Annular ball bearings for the hubs of vehicle wheels are mounted in stepped collars m, n, secured rigidly to the ends of the hub by bolts p passing through a solid portion of the hub. The inner races of the bearings are clamped against shoulders on the axle by nuts c, g, h. An end cap t, with a collar u bearing against the outer ball race, is secured by extensions of the bolts p, which have intermediate heads r to engage the collar n. The cap t carries dust-excluding packing x. In a modification, the cap t and the axle-cap z are screwed into the collars m, n.
