Abstract

191,287. Fenwick, H. B. Jan. 18, 1922. Caravans ; bodies.-A caravan outfit particularly adapted for attachment to a motor vehicle has the superstructure so constructed that it can be enclosed within a box-like body adapted when opened to form the caravan floor, the body being adapted for mounting on the road wheels of a vehicle or trailer. The bodv is formed with an inner lid 11, Fig. 1, and outer hinged lids 12 adapted to be opened out and supported by brackets 15 and corner posts 18. The upper compartment 17 is arranged to contain the superstructure, and the lower compartment 16 the equipment. The ends 19 or sections thereof are hinged and form additional struts, and may be provided with steps. The superstructure may comprise a canvas enclosure formed of a roof 21, Fig. 3, and sides 22 supported on pairs of rods 23 fitted in sockets 24. The roof frame 28 has spigots entering the top ends of the tubes and is centrally hinged to a ridge-bar 30. The walls 22 are connected to the roof and floor bv press-buttons 31, 32. Pivoted tie-rods 33 engage hooks 35 to extend the roof.
