Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and metal springs other than helical and volute springs.- A rigid outer ring, a flexible ring of rubber &c., or, as shown, a ring formed of transverse plates b, Figs. 2 and 3, strung on cables, is supported by radially or concentrically - arranged undulatory spring steel bands c joined at the crests by rivets d, Fig. 5, with countersu k heads and of non circular section. Fig. 9 shows spring material roughened or stamped to imrease its rigidity between the bands. Fig. 6 shows radially-arranged strips. I is stated that in action the rivets of the outer rows come into contact so that in effect thicker bands are formed.
