Buckles.-A buckle of the kind having a sliding gripping-piece comprises a frame a, Figs. 1 and 5, having a cross-bar d for attachment to one end of the strap and a top bar c and bottom bar e between which a gripping- piece b slides, being held therein by a halfpierced indentation g forming a stop. The free end of the strap passes through a slot in the piece b and is gripped against the inner edge of an end bar of the frame a. The guiding-bars may only extend partly across the frame as shown in Fig. 4. The top guiding-bar may be omitted, the gripping-piece being then held by horn-shaped ends f, Fig. 8, engaging under the side bars of the frame. The gripping-pieces may be detached by forcing the half - pierced stops g or the extended ends f into their original positions.
