Abstract
27,607. Lumiere, L. Nov. 30. Hearing-appliances. - Diaphragms for acoustical instruments are composed of a sheet of pleated material, the pleats being held substantially parallel. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the diaphragm is adapted for use on a talking - machine. The opposite ends of the diaphragm are secured between serrated bars 3, which if desired may be held apart under tension so as to stretch the sheet. After pleating. the sheet may he varnished to increase its rigidity and resonance. In a modified arrangement. the sheet is slit for a short distance at each fold, and the sides of the pleats are folded over and secured together by an adhesive, as shown in Fig. 3. The double edges are then bent flat, as shown at 10, and clamped between bars.
