Abstract

Actuating; lift valves.-A lift valve, arranged so as to cause the stream of fluid to be deviated in a symmetrical manner to flow through an annular passage and after passing the valve to unite again, comprises a hollow balanced valve member having a coned part facing the stream and a cylindrical part carrying the valve face adapted to slide on a similarly - shaped fixed member. The valve member contacts with a seat u on the casing and has a packing face r adapted to engage a seat on the fixed part. The member is actuated by a screw k acting through a lever h and is guided by a spider or tail-piece or a fixed rod as shown in Fig. 3. In this form, the lever is forked and engages pins j<1> secured to the valve member.
