Abstract

26,779. Nevile, S. O. Nov. 21. Liquid-meters.-An apparatus for adjusting the rate of supply of water or other attemperating liquid, whereby the temperature of the liquor in a fermenting-tank is regulated, comprises a tank c divided into two compartments provided with a gauge chamber i having a perforated bottom j and a weir or gauge notch k<1> formed in one of the sides, over which the water passes to a second compartment, in which is suspended a thermometer n to indicate the temperature of the water. The gauge chamber i has a glass side through which the level of the water in the tank can be seen. The supply pipe a ends in a bend d arranged so that the flow into the tank is visible, and to separate the air which is taken in thereby the water flows through a pipe f extending to near the bottom of the tank and is surrounded by a pipe g open at the top. The supply to the tank is regulated by suitable valves in the inlet pipe a.
