Sterilizing milk &c.-Milk or other liquid from a pipe 4 is sterilized by flowing down an inclined surface 3 and a surrounding channel 5 to an outlet 6 arranged in a closed water-container 1 provided with double walls 2 for some distance from the top, so that the surface 3 forms the cover and is always below the level of the water. Partitions 7, with perforations 8 at the bottom, reduce the rate of flow of the milk and keep it mixed. The water is heated or boiled by direct steam from the pipes 9, 10, excess steam escaping by a pipe 11. The temperature of the issuing milk is shown by a thermometer 15.
