Abstract

20,229. Haley, H. Sept. 5. Spectacles and eyeglasses.-Relates to spectacles of the type in which the lenses can be turned about an horizontal axis out of the line of sight. As shown in Fig. 1, the bridge b is mounted on a tube a supported by the ordinary side arms. A spindle c passing through the tube, carries the lens frames f, lugs thereon passing through partial gaps in the tube. The spindle is turned by milled disks g and a pin i secures the lenses in either position. In a modification, the central part of the tube a is omitted. As shown in Fig. 4, the tube a is omitted, the bridge b being carried by bearings c<1>. Rimless eyeglasses are shown in Fig. 6 carried by the spindle c turned by a loose disk u engaging a pin on the disk y fixed to the spindle, opposed inclines pulling the spindle endways against a spring h to operate the locking-pin.
