Eyeglasses.-Pince-nez eyeglasses have the plaquets 7<a> springily attached directly or indirectly to the mounts and adapted, when operated by one hand by means of the finger-grips 13, 7, Fig. 7, to turn about axes eccentric to the pivots 11 of the grips, which are perpendicular to the plane of the lenses. The plaquets, Fig. 1, are bent at 10 and turned inwards and flattened so as to form surfaces 9 secured to the lugs 6. In this form, the plaquets pivot about their ends 10, but in a modification, as they are separate from the finger-grips, they are secured to lugs on the lens-rims. If the upper ends of the finger-grips are made springy they can be secured to the plaquets, otherwise, as the plaquets turn about eccentric axes, the necessary play between them is rendered possible by some such connexion as the pin-and-slot connexion shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 7 shows a spring 12 with a lug support 14 capable of sliding on the lens, this spring helping to keep the plaquet on the nose.
