Abstract
18,741. Golodetz, A. Aug. 16, 1911, [Convention date]. Rectifiers; distilling liquids. - A rectifying- apparatus, Fig. 1, consists of two concentric columns r<1>, r<2> and a condenser k<1>, so arranged that the vapours from the still b rise through the outer column r<1>, and are condensed in the condenser k<1>, the resulting liquid flowing down the inner column r<2> and being vaporized for the production of the desired distillate by means of the heat of the outer column r<1>. Inside the column r<2> and operating in a similar manner may be arranged a third rectifying - columu. The columns are fitted with perforated plates or other rectifying-devices. Forms of apparatus constructed of glass and used for laboratory purposes are shown in Figs. 2 and 3. The columns shown in Fig. 2 are filled with a packing of glass beads, wire, &c. The condensers k<1> are air-cooled.
