Abstract
18,438. Savy, E. L. A. Aug. 19, 1911, [Convention date]. Endless-chain machines; moulding confectionery. -Relates to a machine for moulding chocolate bars &c. with embedded nuts, fruits, &c. A series of moulds c is fed by a chain beneath a measuring- device similar to that described in Specification 18,424/12 for supplying nuts &c. and then pass beneath a hopper containing heated chocolate s. Spring-pressed scrapers p, t are provided at each side of the hopper ; the scraper p closes the tops of the moulds and prevents the displacement of the nuts &c. from one compartment to the next by the incoming stream of chocolate, and the scraper t smoothes off the tops of the moulds, being slightly inclined so as to remove excess of chocolate but not sufficiently to allow the nuts &c. to pass out of the moulds. The filled moulds then pass to a shaking table where the almonds are caused to mount to the surface of the chocolate.
