769,092. Moulding chocolates. SOC. ANON. MACCHINE INDUSTRIA DOLCIARIA CARLE & MONTANARI. Nov. 5, 1953 [Dec. 22, 1952], No. 30591/53. Class 87(2). In a machine for moulding cream-filled chocolates, having scraping blades which bear resiliently upon the upper faces of the moulds and move along said faces to remove excess chocolate from the moulds, two of the blades are so inclined relative to their direction of movement that they effect a convergence of the scraped chocolate towards the centre line of their path. Fig. 1 is a plan view of a machine having filled moulds 1 which move intermittently in the direction of the arrow X. Each mould stops at position Y, where two inclined scrapers 2, 3 carried by travelling chains 32 scrape the upper face of the mould. As shown, a third scraper 4, which is not inclined, also is carried by the chains. The scrapers may be flexible (e.g. of rubber or sheet metal) of may be rigid but backed by springs. The scraped-off chocolate falls down a shoot 5 into a receptacle. This shoot also may be flexible. The scrapers are cleaned by contact with edges on a plate 7, these edges being electrically heated to melt chocolate retained thereby so that the chocolate runs off them.
