Abstract
17,676. Tonet, E. J. J. July 30. Coating; cleaning.-A protective coating is formed on metal surfaces by the action of a flame fed by a mixture of petrol, wood charcoal, cooking-salt, liquid ammonia, and turpentine. The surface is cleaned by plunging in a boiling bath of iron sulphide and phosphoric acid, and is preferably coated with a layer of fatty matter before being subjected to the flame.
