Electro-magnetic switches.-A combined connecting and disconnecting switch and a vibratory make-and-break regulating-device for use with a variable-speed generator and a battery, consists of a shunt coil A having a fixed core A' adapted to attract the armature B of the make-and-break device and a movable core adapted to vary its action and also to operate the switch between the generator I and the battery H. The armature B is pivoted at the point b, one arm B<2> carrying a contact b<2> adapted to engage a fixed contact b<3> when the potential of the generator is below a predetermined value, this value being determined by means of an adjustable spring C, the amplitude of vibration of the armature B being controlled by means of a spring b<4>. A second arm B' carries an insulating-stop b<1>, which prevents contact between the arm B' and the core A<1>. The movable core A<2> is connected by means of a projection a<2> to the movable part F of the battery switch, the arm F carrying a contact f adapted to engage a contact g on a spring blade, the tension in which is varied by means of a screw g<1>. The spring G operates to separate the cores A<1>, A<2>, which are prevented from sticking by the placing of an insulating stop a' on the core A'.
