Abstract

Fixed-abutment type; working-fluid supply; cooling parts; packing drums etc.; starting.- A rotary internal-combustion engine of the hinged-vane type is fed from a reservoir supplied by a compressor of the same type arranged on the same shaft k. The engine and compressor rotors b are each provided with a number of hinged vanes c, and passages i', c<1> are provided in the arms i of the rotors and the vanes c to convey lubricant from the hollow shaft k to the pivot pins and the working chambers. The gas mixture is drawn through an inlet n into the compressor and delivered into the reservoir p, which supplies the engine through an inlet e, Fig. 2. Ignition is effected by sparking-plugs m carried by the rotor and connected to a distributing - device r on the shaft k, and the burnt gases finally exhaust through openings g, h in the lateral and cylindrical walls of the engine casing. Water-cooling is provided, and in addition fan blades may be arranged on the rotor arms i. The rotor receives support from semicircular ribs f mounted on the end walls of the casing. A valve s working in conjunction with a clutch between the compressor and the engine is utilized for starting. The rotor and vanes are fitted with packing l.
