Abstract

15,779. Rayner, G. H., [Raitt, W.]. July 5. Drawings to Specification. Impregnating-compositions.-In a process for extracting cellulose or paper pulp from fibrous vegetable materials, the non-cellulose parts are removed in separate groups, by a process of fractional digestion, and one of the groups, consisting of lignins, is removed by boiling with caustic soda solution under steam pressure and may be used for waterproofing paper &c. Other chemicals such as alkaline salts, lime, or the like, may be used instead of caustic soda.
