Abstract
14,254. British Cyanides Co., and Rossiter, E. C. June 18. Alloys.--Sodium alloys are obtained by heating caustic soda with carbon, or a carbon-yielding substance, at a temperature not exceeding 750‹ C., and agitating the sodium produced with molten alloying-metal. Lead is melted in a covered pot fitted with an agitator, and molten caustic soda and charcoal are added either together or alternately, or caustic soda may be fused with lead in the presence of coal gas until all moisture is given off, charcoal being added. The sodium carbonate produced together with the alloy may be reconverted into hydrate and used again.
