Oil ga.s; materials for making gas.-In a process for obtaining gas from oil and peat, sawdust, or like material, the peat is charged into two retorts 1. 2 and the oil into a third retort 4. The gases from the retorts pass through two condensers 8. 9. The condensates from the condenser 8 flow back by gravity to the retort 4, and those from the condenser 9 drop by a pipe 12 into an air chamber 13, from which they are blown through a pipe 14 by compressed air Into' the retort 4 to be reheated, further condensates being treated in a similar manner. The fixed gas is passed to a holder 10.
