[Addition to 15,969/12.] Inking-apparatus.-The tripping-mechanism for the inking-apparatus described in the parent Specification is modified by the use of adjustable stops for limiting the motion of the arm carrying the double pawl that actuates the inking trip-mechanism. The inking-rollers may be held untripped when desired for inking-up by providing means for disconnecting the actual tripping-means from the oscillating lever that normally trips the inking-rollers when the impression roller is tripped. Means are provided for preventing the ink-rollers from rebounding towards the plate cylinder when tripped. The improvements comprise, firstly, adjustable stops 91, 92, which limit the movements of the arm 45 carrying the double pawl 46, which coacts with a pawl plate 41 actuated from the plate cylinder 3 in the manner described in the parent Specification. The stops 91, 92 are adapted to ensure that the pawl 46 shall engage correctly with the abutments 43, 44 when required. Secondly, to allow the inking-rollers to be in working position independently of the automatic trip mechanism described, the link 63 which transfers the tripping-motion to the trip proper 70 is attached to a sector 94 loose on the shaft 65 but normally connected by a spring-plunger 95 to an arm 64 fixed on the shaft. This spring- plunger may be operated to allow the sector to move without tripping the inking-rollers. Rebounding of the inking-rollers is prevented by a spring-pressed rod 96 connected to an arm 98 on the shaft 65. This rod normally exerts no turning action on the shaft 65, but when the inking-rollers are tripped the rod 96 acts to retard their return to operative position.
