Abstract

Sheet-registering devices. -Relates to means for operating the front stops of offset and other printing-machines having continuously-revolving impression cylinders, so that the stops may be raised at the exact moment the sheet is seized by the grippers, irrespective of the thickness of the sheet fed. The stops 1 are carried by a rock-shaft 2 and are normally held down in position by a spring 4, the motion being limited by a stop 5 contacting with the frame 6. The shaft 2 carries an arm 3 which is engaged by a rod 12, resting in a bearing 7<Î> in a lever 7, which is operated to raise the stops by a cam 9 on the impression cylinder. The rod 12 passes through a swivel 13 and bears against a setscrew 14, which can be adjusted to vary the time of actuation of the stops relatively to that of the grippers. The rod 12 can be clamped by a screw 15. In a modified construction for use with an impression cylinder required to print either at every revolution or at alternate revolutions, the rod 12 is arranged so that it can be swung clear of the lifting-lever 7 at alternate revolutions, by trip gear working in synchronism with the ordinary trip mechanism of the press.
