Resistances.-A heating-element comprises a wire or strip b wound on a core a of refractory insulating material of substantially triangular section having concave heat-reflecting sides, the resistance being kept in place by lugs c and connected to metallic terminal plates d secured to the flattened ends of the core. The core is arranged so that the greater length of resistance lies on the front. According to the Provisional Specification, the core may have more than three sides, and the sides may be straight, convex, or concave and plain, saw-toothed, or corrugated. The core may also consist of a flat part having a raised rib in the middle, or may be channelshaped.
