[Addition to 24,251/10.] Dating railway tickets; printing-apparatus combined with registering-apparatus.-In a modification of the machine described in the parent Specification for dating tickets with an embossing-stamp and copying upon a strip matter printed in copying ink on the ticket, the lower member E of the jointed stamp is guided in the swinging stamp head C to avoid blurring of the ticket, a device is provided for retaining the ticket carriage in its pushed-back position until the stamp is moved out of action, to avoid tearing of the registering strip, and the moistening-device is constructed and arranged to be clear of the stamping parts except during the pushing in of the ticket carriage. The lower member E of the stamp causes axles E<1>, E<2> projecting into and guided by slots in the swinging stamp head C, and spring-pressed plungers G bear against the axle E<2> to press the member E against its joint pin F and thereby the upper member D against the knife-edge pivot i. On pushing in the ticket carriage H, the registering strip is moistened by a roll a covered with a wick of silk or cotton. The axles of the roll are supported in spring-pressed plungers and ride on guide-flanges on the carriage during their moistening action, after which they pass below springs f and return after the printing operation below the flanges. The roll is moistened by felt K in a reservoir J carried by a spring-controlled plunger j arranged at the end of the spring plunger p for returning the carriage after printing. The carriage after being pushed in is held throughout the printing operation by a pivoted spring-controlled bellcrank h on the head engaging a notch on the carriage, and is released on the return swing of the head by the arm m of the bell-crank contacting with a pivoted spring-controlled latch on the frame. The take-up reel O for the registering strip is operated by ratchet-andpawl mechanism actuated by a link T<1>, pivoted lever T, and a link U having a slot V engaging a pin Z on the frame.
