Abstract
11,435. Dicker, S. G. S., [Lockling Improved Automatic Passenger Fare Registering Co , P. P.]. May 8. Feeding webs. - In a machine for printing, registering and issuing transfer tickets, the printing and registering operations are effected by a simple manual operation of a handlever, and the feeding forward of the ticket strip from a roll is then effected automatically after release of the operating - lever. The apparatus is contained in a casing A fitted with a hinged side and formed with an issuing- aperture a<0>. The strip C is fed from a roll C<2> mounted in a frame B<2>, Fig. 3, contained in the casing A. The various parts of the machine are mounted in the frame B<2> and the strip passes over a support B' secured to the frame B<2>. The strip is printed through a ribbon D, when a lever I is actuated, by a printing-roller F and time-printing mechanism H<1> mounted in a housing H which is depressed against the action of springs by a cam I<2> on the shaft I<1> of lever I. After the operating-shaft I<1> is released, the strip is fed forward by feeding and printing rollers N', P which print advertisements &c. on the backs of the tickets. The impression roller P and inking-roller Q are mounted in slots in the frame B. The roller N<1> is driven by spur gearing from a ratchet K which is rotated intermittently by a pawl J<4> on a yoke J<3> connected by a link J<2> to an arm J' on a sleeve J freely mounted on the shaft I'. On the downward motion of lever I to effect the printing, the sleeve J is not moved directly owing to lost motion between the shaft I' and sleeve J, but on release of the lever I, a spring J<5> returns the lever J' and yoke J<3> to normal position and in doing so rotates the ratchet K. The ratchet K is also geared to the ink-ribbon roller E<4>, which is thus rotated after each impression. The lever I is preferably bent out, as shown at i, to clear the adjusting-wheel F<2> of the printing-roller F. The finished ticket is torn off against the edge of a slot a<0>.
