6989. Rogers, F. H., [Weis-Van Wormer Co.]. March 21. Boxes made from special blanks; lids and covers.-A paper vessel such as a milk bottle is made by folding a blank A, Fig. 4, to form sides of single thickness and ends of more than one thickness, applying pressure on both sides of the top to punch an opening B, Fig. 1, for the mouth and to press the glued flaps together while the bottom is still open and then applying pressure over the whole surface of the inside of the bottom by introducing through the mouth B shot, compressed air, mercury, or an expanding tool to compress these flaps together with adhesive between them. The vessel is paraffined inside and outside. The top is pressed upwards and permanently raised as shown in Fig. 1, and this can be done at the time of punching the mouth or of pressing the flaps or at any other time. The opening B can be made relatively small to allow it to be easily sealed.
