Abstract

732,228. Cartons. BRUUN, O. J. Oct. 28, 1952 [Nov. 13, 1951], No. 26565/51. Classes 66 and 125 (3). A cup-shaped container made from a single blank of metal foil with wavy corrugated side walls 2 has the corrugations in a band at the open end of the container compressed to form a flat compact circumferential section 1 to increase the rigidity of the edge and form a seat for a fluidtight lid, the corrugations below the band being left as open corrugations down to the bottom of the container. The tops of the corrugations below the flattened band form a shoulder on which may seat a disc closure 17, Fig. 10, and the band may be bent over inwardly as shown to retain the closure in place. A layer of plastic sealing compound may be applied on one or both sides of the flattened band and the lid may comprise a disc 5 with a U-section rim 4a, Fig. 6, adapted to take over the band and be clamped thereto. The outside rim of the lid may be corrugated to form regular folds when compressed, and the lid may have a transparent window.
