6859. Marshall, W. March 20. Presses and moulding - machines with fixed mould tables or moulds.-A process for moulding substances into blocks or cakes, and especially for pressing cattle food into small cakes, comprises a pair of standards A, between which is arranged a table B furnished with mould apertures C<1>, preferably formed in an interchangeable plate C. Material is fed to the moulds by a hopper K, which is moved over the moulds and vibrated by a serrated sector, arm, &c. N acting upon a projection N' on the hopper, or on a lever O, and is returned beneath a supply shoot X by a spring O<2>. Pressure is applied by upper plungers f carried by a block F, which is guided in the framework A and is operated by an eccentric or crank E. The pressed blocks are ejected by bottom plungers g carried by a block G, operated by a cam H, and are moved clear of the moulds by the front of the hopper K across the table B, or drum or shoot L into bags, or on to the floor. Motion is imparted to the various parts of the machine from a main shaft P. A modification is described in which the hopper is returned by a counterweight, and the bottom plungers are operated hydraulically. The parts of the machine may be duplicated.
