Abstract

234,495. Macnab Stratified Coal, Ltd. May 21, 1924, [Convention daie]. Reciprocating-mould-table machines ; shaking and jigging machines ; tamping-machines ; feeding ; moulds.-In reciprocating mould machines for moulding fuel &c. the moulds are troughshaped and the moulded blocks are delivered laterally by ejectors passing through the troughs; in the pressing position the moulds are closed laterally by fixed walls. Each press is associated with a pair of moulds and a pair of ejectors the latter being moved as a unit together with a feed-box. As shown a pair of presses 5, 6 cooperate with four moulds 16 and three ejectors 21. Each press comprises a dead-weight 8 carrying a vertical lifting-bar 7 operated through rack gear and connected to the pressing plunger through spring bolts 9; and is fitted with plates 18 to close the moulds laterally. The ejectors 21 are shaped to correspond with the mould bottoms 17 and are carried by a frame 20 which is reciprocated through cam and lever mechanism operated from a main shaft at the rear of the machine. The frame 20 may support vertical blades adapted to work through corresponding slots 81 in one of the walls 18. Movement is imparted to the mould table through a rack 44 engaged by a pinion 43 which is connected through bevel &c. gear to a pinion 41, Fig. 4, engaged by a crank 38 on a member 39 driven from the main shaft; stop pins 45 engaging slots 46 limit the movement in each direction. A jigging motion is imparted to the mould bottoms 17, Fig. 1, when under the press, through depending studs 50 which are engaged by tappets 55 on frame members 56 engaged by cams 52 splined to a running shaft 53. The cams are tapered and are moved gradually into and out of action by a frame 57 which is reciprocated through a bell-crank 59 from a cam driven from the main shaft. Material is supplied from a hopper 70, Fig. 3, aligned with each press, to a feed box 71 coupled by links 73 to a member 72 secured to the frame 20, the material being delivered into the fixed box 79 above the mould over an inclined vibrating shoot 78. The moulded blocks are delivered on to roller tables 22.
