4964. Thomlinson, J. Feb. 28. Hand-bags.-A paper or like carrier bag is formed with slits F<2>, G<2>, Fig. 6, at the top edge and with holes in the back and front walls, so that when the top part is folded over the cord H may hold the bag closed. In another form, shown in Fig. 1, slits F, G are formed in the front wall and holes are formed in the rear wall opposite the extremities of these slits so that the cord H when drawn closes the bag. The rear wall may be strengthened by strips on one or both sides of the crease-line A, and the top strip may have an extension at its middle part. In this case, before drawing the cord to close the bag, the flap and this extension are first folded downwards over the mouth of the bag.
