Abstract

1396290 Carrier bags BRITISH VISQUEEN Ltd 31 Oct 1972 [6 Aug 1971] 37040/71 Heading A4G A plastics carrier bag with one wall extended to form a fold-over closure flap 3 for mouth 6 and opposed hand-holes 8, 9 in the flap and walls, has a transverse stiffening strip 10 for the flap. The hand-holes comprise a hinged tongue 7, 8 in the flap and straight slits 9 in the walls through which the tongue passes and locks in virtue of the tongue hinge being shorter than the maximum tongue width. The strip 10 may be cardboard or plastics welded at 11 between the double welded layer forming the flap, the bag being side-seamed at 13 with a button gusset 12. Specification 1364688 is referred to in respect of other arrangements of hand-holes.
