Abstract
4853. Weir, G. & J., and Peterm÷ller, J. Feb. 27. Blast and aspirating apparatus, injector and ejector; nozzles; regulating.-In an apparatus for compressing or exhausting air by means of water &c. impelled through nozzles by a turbine rotor, means are provided for regulating the output of the apparatus by putting one or more nozzles out of action. The rotor r impels water through a series of nozzles a, and the air to be entrained enters through an inlet p. Corresponding to the nozzle a is a series of nozzles n within the rotor, through which water is supplied, and one or more of the nozzles n can be cut off by means of a cylindrical valve v. The valve v may be arranged within or without the nozzles n, or the nozzles n may be fed by separate passages controlled by separate valves. The nozzles a are provided with non-return valves g to prevent air from being drawn in through those that are out of action.
