3401. Maardt, J. G. Feb. 10. Vapour burners ; vaporizing-apparatus ; porous block and like burners.-Liquid fuel is partly or wholly vaporized in a pre-vaporizer, and is then supplied to the interior, and burnt at the surface of, a hollow grate - shaped furnace, boiler, stove, oven, range, or like burner made of one piece of fire - proof, porous or partly porous material, the air for combustion being supplied between the grate bars. The preferably grate-shaped pre-vaporizer B is arranged above the burner A and may be surmounted by a grate-shaped air-heating device C to and from which air passes by passages f, g, and holes h respectively. A second vaporizing-chamber for supplying vapour for illuminating or other purposes may replace the air heater. Only the part of the burner walls above the bottom of the hollow interior b is porous, the part below this level being enamelled or coated with impenetrable fireproof material.
