Tar-macadam, plant for making.-Consists in heating and drying stone for tar-macadam in vessels with perforated bottoms which are placed over openings in a chest through which hot air is forced; the receptacles may then be dipped into tar. The air may be supplied by apparatus such as those described in Specifications 23,692/11 and 5893/12. The receptacles c are preferably formed with perforated internal pillars i, which are placed over tubular projections g on the air-chest a; these projections are surrounded by seatings c on which is asbestos &c. packing h. Air passes to the receptacles c through holes d in the cover of the air-chest, which may he closed by a hit-and-miss arrangement j.
