Abstract

2315. Werenbach, F. von. Jan. 27, 1911, [Convention date]. Surface condensers; alcoholic liquids, distilling.-An evaporator is fitted with a condenserreceiver 1 so arranged that the vapours first generated under atmospheric pressure in the evaporator displace the air through a pipe 2, the evaporation being subseqnently conducted under a reduced pressure obtained by closing the air-exit cock 3 and condensing the vapour by admitting a cooling-medium to the vessel 7. The apparatus may be applied to the concentration of fruitjuices &c., and to the distillation of liquids such as brandy; in the latter case, two condenserreceivers are used, one for the collection of the low wines, and the other for the brandy.
