Abstract
28,590. Schram, A. L. Dec. 19. Blowing. - In apparatus for forming hollow glass-ware, of the type in which the blank mould 2, Fig. 1, is filled by suction and the excess of metal cut off by a knife 9, the parts are arranged so that the molten metal does not initially enter the neck ring 3. When the mould has been charged, the metal, which has come in contact with the cut-off knife 9 and may be somewhat chilled and rough, is forced up into the body of the mould by a plug 11, Fig. 2. The suction head 6 is replaced by a plunger 12 which forces the metal into the neck ring as shown in Fig. 2, thus ensuring a wellformed neck. The blank is then blown as usual in a finishing-mould 14, Fig. 3.
