Abstract
617,445. Stemmed glassware. COMPAGNIE INTERNATIONALE DE GOBELETERIE INBEBRECHABLE SOC. ANON. Oct. 1, 1946, No. 29233. Convention date, Oct. 12, 1945. [Class 56] Footed glassware, for example a drinking- glass, is made by forming a blank B within a multi-part mould 1 ... 6, shaping the upper part of the blank into a bowl and the lower part into a foot, the two parts from the start being joined by a stem which is always held by part of the mould during the shaping of the other parts, whereby deformation of the stem is prevented. In the particular form shown the bowl is made by blowing through a perforated tube 9 acting in conjunction with a finishing mould 5 which has replaced the preliminary mould 1. The foot is formed by a plunger 13 having suction ducts 14 and acting in conjunction with a finishing mould 6 which has replaced the preliminary mould 2. The stem is supported in the mould 3. Some or all of the mould parts may be rotated, and the lower part of the blank, which is to form the foot, may be heated before the foot is formed. The upper portion of the bowl is cut-off and the glass is annealed.
