Abstract

28,037. Ruston, Proctor, & Co., and Waddington, A. Dec. 13. Riveting.-A riveting-tool consists of a casing having a cup-shaped recess and an eccentric hole or channel in which moves a plunger. The casing is rotated while the plunger receives the blows of a pneumatic or other hammer, so that a cold rivet or stay can be headed. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the plunger c is cylindrical, and its face conforms in one direction to the concave profile of the recess b, but is flat or slightly convex in the other direction. The plunger is prevented from rotating on its own axis, and its stroke is limited by a screw d. In the form shown in 1'ig. 5, there are two plungers c, c<1> operated by a single plunger e, and the casing is rotated by ratchet mechanism.
