Rotary machines; overlays, impression surfaces, and the like.-The impression cylinder b of a rotary printing-machine, particularly of the kind used for printing wall-paper friezes, may have one or more segmental plates a attached to the surface of the cylinder, so that printing is only effected at such raised parts. The plates are preferably of metal, faced with rubber, and removable, so that the machine may be used for continuous or intermittent printing. A suitable gear-wheel e is provided to drive the printing-roller pinions h when intermittent printing is being done, in addition to the usual wheel f for continuous printing, both being slidable into engagement with the pinions h as desired. An alternative wheel i for driving the colour rollers may also be used.
