Locking nuts. - A lock - nut consists of a plain ring e, Fig. 1, containing a spring ring c threaded inside and circumferentially tapered to fit the bore. The spring ring projects beyond the lower face of the lock - nut, so that, when screwed down on the nut to be locked, the outer ring is wedged on the spring ring.. The same construction may be applied to a nut to be locked without a lock-nut.
