23,373. Ehrhardt, H. Oct. 23. Billet-piercing; forging dies and punches.- A short tubular blank has a marginal collar which fits a recess in the die, and the drifting- punch has a front portion d which expands the blank into contact with the die and thus obviates the necessity of a back stop while the back portion e is effecting the reduction. The punch has a guide-portion f which may be recessed to minimize friction.
