Abstract
22,976. Hamilton, W. L. Oct. 18. Elevated railways; rails, metallic built-up and non-metallic; rail sections. - Relates to rails mounted upon or formed as an upward extension of a longitudinal sheet-metal standard, and consists of a rail having two sides which diverge upwards and outwards from the standard, and a tie forming connexion between the tops of the sides. The sides B, D, Fig. 2, and tie C may constitute an extension of the standard A, and the tie C may form the tread, or a separate tread F may be used. The tie C may be omitted and the side D be formed separate from B in which case the tread F acts as tie. The sides B, D, Fig. 5, may be unequal and the tie F may have flat or curved surface form. Both sides B D, Fig. 6, may be formed separate from the standard A, which may be extended up to support the tie F. The space between the tie and the sides forms approximately an inverted triangle, and may be filled in with wood of cementitious material.
