Abstract

22,367. Hutton, R. W. Oct. 11. Folding boxes.-A collapsible box of cardboard &c., adapted for display purposes, consists of a four-sided collapsible casing 1 open top and bottom and provided with a hinged cover 3, and a bottom portion 4 having folding wings 5 provided with one or more ears 7 adapted to engage in slots 8 in the casing walls when extended to lock the bottom portion in the casing. Instead of being hinged to the casing as shown, the bottom may be separate, and, in this form, the ears are passed through slots in the casing, which-slots may be arranged at different levels so that the bottom may be disposed at varying heights in the casing. In the form shown, the ears 7 are formed of a maximum width greater than the slots and require to be sprung or forced through the side slits 8<a>. The ears may, in a modification, be formed by portions cut out of the wings. In a further modification, the casing and separate bottom are formed with pairs of slits which may be made to coincide, in which position the parts are locked together by separate ear-pieces inserted through the slots.
