Abstract
20,656. Petzold, M. Sept. 27, 1910, [Convention date]. Passing m a t e r i a l s through fluid - supplying apparatus. - T o remove lye from fabrics soaked in 'soda - lye for mercerizing, the fabric is subjected to steam spray and pressing-rollers to remove the greater part of the lye, and is then passed through hot water or weak lye in which it is stretched transversely by chains before passing to the washing-apparatus. From the store roller 7, the fabric passes over width stretching-rollers 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 18, and pressing-rollers 11, 13. Lye is sprayed on to the fabric from nozzles 57, 57<1>, and steam from nozzles 19, 21, 23, 25. The vat 5 contains water or weak lye from which the fabric, which is nearly free from lye, passes over guide-rollers in the tank 29 containing hot water or weak lye, in which it is stretched by diverging chains 39. From the tank 29, it passes over guiderollers and pressing-rollers 37 to an acid tank 40 and a water tank 41 heated by a steamcoil 54.
