Abstract
10,666. Sykes, A., and Clough, J. P. April 30. Circulating or passing materials through vats and the like.-In a machine for dewing textile fabrics by passing the cloth in front of water sprays; the cloth is steamed to shrink it immediately prior to and during the spraying. The apparatus employed comprises an horizontal trough 9 fitted with a cover composed of two oppositely - inclined boards or plates 11, 12 connected by end boards 13. The front board 11 projects rearwardly beyond and above the other 12, having a longitudinal opening 14 between. Diffused steam is supplied through a double steam-pipe, the inner 17 being perforated along its top and the outer 18 along its under surface. The cloth travels through slots 11<Î>, 12<Î> in the front and back of the cover and then over rollers 5, 6, between which it is steamed a second time from the slot 14, while on its other face it is sprayed as usual from nozzles 2. Condensed moisture is collected and carried away from the cover by gutters 15, 16 thereon, while the trough 9 and steam-pipes 17, 18 are fitted with pipes 21, 20 for the same purpose.
