Abstract

<PICT:0914161/IV (b)/1> A method for the continuous washing of textile webs, especially for washing off excess residue printing ink from printed fabrics, is characterized in that the web is conducted through a bath of hot water and after traversing a free distance sufficiently long for the soaking and softening of the excess ink, is subjected to the action of jets of water, beating elements and brushes and is then rinsed and wrung out. As shown, web 1 passes through guiding and spreading rollers 2 to tank 4 of hot water thence around guide roller 5 and a perforated spraying roller 6. It then passes up inclined surface 8 where it is subjected to vigorous jets of water from pipes 7, the water being taken away by sucion pipes 9. After this preliminary cleaning the web 1 enters beating apparatus in cylinder 11 in which with the aid of alternately disposed rollers 12 and rotary brushes 13 the web is conducted over a curved zig-zag path. In cylinder 11 there is also provided a rotary beating cage comprising rods 14 secured by radial arms 15 to rotary shaft 16. Following the beating the web is brushed vigorously by rotary brushes 24 on support 23 and is rinsed with the aid of spray pipes 25. The web then runs through a rinsing cylinder 27 in which there is a coaxial spray pipe 29, the web being guided around rollers 28 some of which may be brushes. The fabric is finally passed between wringing rollers 34 and deposited.
