DEVICE FOR CLEANING THE WATER-TTGHT BLANKETS OF CLOTH-PBINTING MACHINES.
' Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 19, 1910.
Application filed-September 21, 1809. Serial No. 518,885.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANZ XA'VER MUL- Lax-FIGHTER, a subject of the German ,Em-
eror, and resident of Thann i., Alsace, ermany, have invented certain new and useful 1m rovements in Devices for Cleaning the ater-Tight Blankets of Cloth- Printing Machines, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact'description.
he present invention relates to a device for cleaning the counter-pressing rollers, of
cloth-printm -machines and consists in the substitution or the ordinary watertight covering of such rollers of an endless watertight blanket guided on rollersL Instead of and drying aprons ordinarily used for cleanin the counter-pressing roller, said blanketis itself, after 'eachim ression, passed through a system of washing and cleaning rollers and thereupon subjected to a drying process before it again comes into contact with the counter-pressing roller.
The advanta e of the invention is that the endless was ing blanket being made of watertight, tough material is far more easy to guide on its rollers than are the soft-wiping and drying a rons which easily get d1splaced and there ore require frequent ada more thorou h cleaning of the blanket will be efiecte by the present inventlon, than is t e case when using wiping and drying aprons.
In the accompanyijfg drawinga sample 85 .form of construction of the improved arra ement is shown in a dlagrammati'c view.
' ing-machine ecounter-pressing roller l of the printreceives a coverin" a which consists of an endless watertigfi I running-on, guide-rollers b from and to the counter-pressing roller. This blanket is first washed y means of a roller g over which a spra pipe 1 is arranged. It is then wiped y a rub er or'felt roller 11 which 'rotates in a direction opposite to that'of the blanket and which is, mits turn, cleaned b p a brush-roller f and a squeezing-roller passed. the rollerithe blanket is next sub ected to the 'action of a scraper k Having which completes the cleaningof the same.
. It is thereupon conducted under'a felt covered roller p, .by which it is preliminarily with a rotating wipin tubes m blanket cleaned and dried it means of a series of perforatedpipes we producing a hot air current throu h which the blanket passes. In order to re uce the temperatureimparted by the hot air current to the blanket, the latter issubsequently conducted over a series of pipes duce a cold air current. I thus dispense band device. and ac n which pro-v complish a more relia 1e and perfect cleaning of the blanket and more result in the printing.
-The process of cleaning1 the dirty blanket during the printing is t e following: The endless blanket a passes durinfithe printing around the counter-pressing r0 tween the latter and the fabric to be printed. Having passed the printing rollers, the blanket is conducted'to the c caning device where the color-adherin to it is first damped by the rollers g and .t en removed by the roller 2'. The brush roller working in o posite direction to the ro er 2', washes t e color off the latter, and the water adhering.
final cleamn of'the blanket is effected by the scraper After the blanket a has in thisway been cleaned, the drying-process commences, which consists in' causing the felt covered drying-cylinder p, to-rubofi the blanket a whereupon the latter for the purpose of being thoroughly dried passes over guide-rollers 6 along the system of provided with nozzles throughwhich a hot air current emanates. The system tubes n, along which the blanket'is subsequently conducted, eflects the cooling of the same. After the blanket has been thus again passes around the counter-pressing rol er I. p v 4 A device for cleaning the water -tight hblankets of cloth printing machines, com.-
rising in combination with an endless Ian'ket running on ide-rollers, a roller adapted'to'was the lanket, a spray pipe su plying water' to said roller, awiping 'ro ler arranged-next to said washing roller,
a scraper arranged next to the wiping roller to complete the cleaning, a brush roller adapted to wash the wiping roller a press roller for pressing the water out of the same,
satisfactory er 1, and ber to same is pressed out by the roller h. .The
